![]() Overall, the balance changes don't seem like they'll make too much of an impact - it's hard to imagine fighters like Shizumaru and Mina not still being some of the strongest in the game - but at least they're going out of their way to pay attention to some of the lower tiers. ![]() More curiously, characters like Haohmaru who have stayed strong for several patches have gotten some buffs which isn't quite as understandable. Certain overtuned moves like this one seem to have been the focus of getting toned down, as you might expect for any balance patch.Īs for overall character changes, as per usual they've given a multitude buffs to struggling characters like Rimururu and Kyoshiro who have constantly gotten strengthened in patches but still aren't quite able to produce results. For example, my main character Mina's crouching medium no longer knocks down, which makes a lot of sense since this button was an overly oppressive tool in the neutral game, being fast, having decent range, being hard to punish and on top of that knocking down. On the subject of knockdowns, they weren't just removed from kicks but from certain other moves as well. What the exact intent of making kicks less likely to knock down I'm not entirely sure of, but I would guess that the goal is to have knockdowns feel earned since okizeme can be quite powerful in this game with the right reads, especially with newer characters like Sogetsu and Iroha. This was already done previously for running kicks, but now moves such as Charlotte's forward kick no longer knocks down either. One, for example, is that they've made it so that fewer kick moves give you knockdown. There are a lot of them, and I advise you to have a look at the patch notes if you're curious about your character in particular, but there are some fairly universal changes. Now, to be clear, I didn't sit down and meticulously try out each character's changes.
